Star student of the week Liyue has been awarded the title of “star student of the week for what she did for our class. On the hot afternoon of last Saturday, Liyue went downtown and walk from
one store to another, looking for the costumes we would wear in the singing contest. While the rest of us were enjoying our leisure time in cool and comfortable rooms, she spent the whole afternoon searching and selecting. Finally, she found the right clothes. Deeply moved by her efforts, we tried our best and won the first prize in the contest. Liyue is always warm – hearted and cares a lot about the class. Besides, she often devotes her spare time to helping others. She has set a good example to us. Therefore, she deserve the honor and we should learn from her. Great changes have taken place in the way people communicate with each other from a long distance. In the past people wrote letters to exchange information at first and later they could talk with each other on the telephone. Now more and more people use their own mobile phones to communicate instead of writing on the paper and they e-mail to each other on the computer. As a result, people find it quicker and more convenient to communicate now, but at the same time some people feel that they become poorer in writing and the relationship between each other becomes not so close as before.

Ladies and Gentlemen, It’s a great pleasure for me to be here today and share some methods of learning Chinese with you. The methods are as follows. First, it is important to take a Chinese course, as you will be able to learn from the teacher and practice with your fellow students. Then, it also helps to watch TV and read books, newspapers and magazines in Chinese
whenever possible. Besides, it should be a good idea to learn and sing Chinese songs, because by doing so you will learn and remember Chinese words more easily. You can also make more Chinese friends. They will tell you a lot about China and help you learn Chinese. That’s all. Thank you for listening.

Dear Mr.Henry, I’m writing this letter to make some complaints about the MP5 player I bought in your store last week. Unfortunately, the player can’t display pictures. I have read through all the details within the instructions, but I still can’t find the solution to the problem. I have been your customer for two years and have always been satisfied and happy with your products. This is the first time something like this has happened. I sincerely hope that you kindly take immediate action and send me a suitable replacement. If not, I will have to ask for a full refund. Yours, Li hua
