? Visitors to the Maldives can hardly be expected to stay dry and going diving（潜水） is the very best thing to do while here. If you have ne
ver dived before or want to update your diving certificates, this has to be one of the best places to do it. With few exceptions, all resorts（度假胜地） have a fully equipped diving school. You can also be assured of finding trained and well-qualified professional diving instructors（潜水教练）.
? Visit the National Museum, in which houses （陈列）untidy exhibits of the sultans’ belongings and a smattering of Thor Heyerdahl’s(托尔 海尔.达尔) archaeological discoveries（考古发现）.
? Wander around the Sultan Park located near the museum and is a pleasant pastime. The imposing（ 壮丽的） white Islamic（伊斯兰） Centre & Grand Friday Mosque （清真寺）which dominates the city’s skyline.
? Check out the Hukuru Miski（木卡鲁.密斯 卡寺）, the oldest mosque in the Maldives and well worth a visit. Famed for its intricate（复杂的） stone carvings（石 雕）, one a long panel, carved in the 13th century, commemorates the introduction of Islam to the Maldives.
? Go shopping at the Singapore Bazaar（集市）, is a conglomeration（聚集） of stores selling some quality local handicrafts（手工艺品） and an assortment of Maldivian and imported tourist product. Also interesting are the shops selling home hardware（五金器具）, marine equipment（海事装备）, fishing gear （渔具）and general merchandise for local villages.
? Visit Utheem Island（尤 瑟姆岛）. The island, is situated in Haa Alif Atoll （汗达环礁圈）. A palace stands in the western part of the island, well known to the Maldivian public because it was the residential palace of the national hero, Suldan Ghazi Mohamed Boduthakurufanu. There is a traditional mosque in Utheem, built on a coral stone（珊瑚礁石） base with wooden beams（木 梁） and lacquered pillars（漆柱）.
? Discover Seenu（斯努环 礁）. This is ‘second city’ of the Maldives, and the resort(度假胜地) here is the best base from which to visit traditional Maldivian island communities. The Seenu people are fiercely independent and speak differently from folk in the capital.
Travel to Faafu Atoll(发福环礁). In the southern island of this atoll, you’ll find Nilandhoo (尼兰 侯)Island where one see the second oldest mosque in the Maldives. It is a magnificent structure of well-cut stone with ornamental (观赏 性)wooden scrollwork (木质涡卷）decorating （装饰）its interiors.
? Go and see Gadhdhoo （戈德杜） an island of the Laanu Atoll. It has one of the most impressive ruins to be found anywhere in the Maldives. From the forest cover rises the remnants of a once enormous stupa(佛塔). In its heyday(全盛期), the huge white limestone pyramid, glistening in the sun and standing against a backdrop of lush green vegetation must have made an imposing sight.
? Go stargazing（观星）. Stargazing is an excellent pastime here as there are few ‘city lights’ to disturb the brightness of the stars in the night sky over the Maldives. Observing them with the naked eye(裸眼) is also possible as the air is about as clear as you’ll get anywhere on earth that even the moon seems closer.
