第三部分：阅读理解(共 20 小题；每小题 2 分，满分 40 分) A School is a place that is familiar to everyone. Let’s find out what American students do in school. An official dance party is held about twice a year in high schools in the United States. When the final football game is over for the season there is a homecoming party. Sometimes, students select a king from among the football players, and a queen from among the girls. Every student can attend and have fun with the help of their teachers. Sometimes, students, called bookworms （书虫）, to the surprise of the other students, come to the party in a beautiful dress. The most exciting party that students can go to would have to be a dance party. Students attend it in dresses similar to those of Hollywood stars and the atmosphere is comparable to an Oscar Award party. Since such a party is for seniors, students usually stay up the night trying to enjoy their last year in high school. In American schools, instead of the teachers going to different rooms, students have their own class schedules (课程表) and go to different classrooms. When a student is away from school, they must have an explanation for being away along with the signature(签名) of a parent. The signed paper is then handed in to the school office. High school drop outs and students being expelled (除名) are not that uncommon in the States. High absences without excuses are one of the reasons why students are expelled from school. American students also enjoy a number of activities out of school like cheerleading (拉拉队), student government and a host of different sports. 51. Whose presence at the homecoming party can make others amazed? A. The king and the queen acted by students. B. The laziest student in study. C. The teacher who offers advice. D. Students who study hardest. 52. Why do students hold the dance party till the next morning? A. Because they would like to dance and sang madly. B. Because this perhaps is the last chance that they can enjoy their school life. C. Because students make it as exciting as an awarding party of Oscar. D. Because this is the only chance that they get dressed like film stars. 53. According to the passage, American students in school ________.

A. The organizing of dance parties. B. Homecoming party. C. How to ask for a leave. D. School life in America.
B Memory, they say, is a matter of practice and exercise. If you have the wish and really made a conscious effort, then you can quite easily improve your ability to remember things. But even if you are successful, there are times when your memory seems to play tricks on you. Sometimes you remember things that really did not happen. One morning last week, for example, I got up and found that I had left the front door unlocked all night, yet I clearly remember locking it carefully the night before. Memory “trick” work the other way as well. Once in a while you remember not doing something, and then find out that you did. One day last month, for example, I was sitting in a barber shop waiting for my turn to get a haircut, and suddenly I realized that I had got a haircut two days before at the barber shop across the street from my office. We always seem to find something funny and amusing in incidents caused by people’s forgetfulness or absent-mindedness. Stories about absent-minded professors have been told for years, and we never got tired of hearing new ones. Unfortunately, however, absent-mindedness is not always funny. There are times when “trick” of our memory can cause us great trouble. 55. If you want to have a good memory, . A. you should force yourself to remember things B. you should make a conscious effort of practice and exercise C. you should never stop learning D. you should try hard to remember tings 56. From the sentence “We never get tired of hearing new ones”, we can infer that A. we enjoy hearing new stories about absent-mindedness of professors B. we don’t want to know anything more about absent-mindedness of professors C. we will never get tired of listening to new stories about absent-mindedness D. absent-mindedness happens not only to professors but to many other people 57. In the passage, the writer seems to tell you . A. forgetting things is serious and dangerous B. always forgetting things is understandable C. forgetting things at times is natural D. the way to protect yourself from memory “tricks” 58. The best title for this passage is . A. How to Get a Good Memory B. “Tricks” Of Memory C. Forgetfulness and Absent-mindedness is Dangerous
D. Get Rid of Absent-mindedness C As computers become all the more popular in China，Chinese people are increasingly relying on computer keyboards to input Chinese characters（字）. But if they use the computer too much， they may end up forgetting the exact strokes(笔画) of each Chinese character when writing on paper. Experts suggest people，especially students，write by hand more. Do you write by hand more or type more？In Beijing，students start using a computer as early as primary school. And computer dependence is more widespread among university students. Almost all their assignments and essays are typed on a computer. All the students interviewed say they usually use a computer. It’s faster and easier to correct if using a computer. And that’s why computers are being applied more and more often to modern education. But when people are taking stock in computers increasingly，problems appear. “When I’m writing with a pen， find I often can’t remember how to write a character， I though I feel I’m familiar with it.” “I’m not in the mood to write when faced with a pen and paper.” Many students don’t feel this is something to worry about. Now that it’s more convenient and efficient to write on a computer，why bother to handwrite? Many educators think differently. Shi Liwei， headmaster of a famous primary school in the the capital said “Chinese characters enjoy both practical and aesthetic(审美的) value. But those characters typed with computer keyboards only maintain their practical value. All the artistic beauty of the characters is lost. And handwriting contains the writer’s emotion. Through one’s handwriting，people can get to know one’s thinking and personality. Beautiful writing will give people a better first impression of them.” To encourage students to handwrite more， many primary schools in Beijing have made writing classes compulsory (必修的) and in universities，some professors are asking students to turn in their homework and essays written by hand. 59．Which of the following can best serve as the title of the passage?
