2.1.1 The ball mill is mainly composed feeding assembly, charging assembly, main-bearing, shell, transmission, discharging assembly, coupling, main-motor, lubrication station, hoisting equipment, low-seed drive, electronic control, etc. 2.1.2 Main Structural Features 2.1.2.1 Shell As a main part of ball mill, shell is composed by two ends flange and cylinder, involving liners. 2.1.2.2 Main-bearing Main-bearing with static-dynamic pressure has advantage of centering, for bi-directional arc on its back. The bearing liner is made of water-cooled Babbitt metal. The bearing sealed through piston ring. While starting or stopping, lubricate bearing by high pressure and format oil film by static pressure to prevent slide way from dry friction. In this method, reduce start torque efficiency. During normal operation, use low pressure, oil and supply oil by rotation. The internal bearing is equipped with two resistance bulb. The main bearings and the main motor interlocked. 4.2 Foundation 4.2.1 Ball mill must be installed on the solid ferroconcrete foundation 。 (If installation location of ball mill is higher than ground, marking no. of concrete should increase accordingly . The bottom area and volume should be designed by relevant professional, according to the max load of foundation and Carrying Capacity of foundation soil. Don’t allow to connect foundation with factory wall, distance between them is 40-50cm at least and filled with stone to protect foundation of building during ball mill operating. Profile dimension of foundation should be larger than pedestal 100mm, if no special requirements. After completing installation,

should check the foundation. 4.2.2 Elevation of foundation plate is lower than bottom plate about 50-80mm, so that place block between them for adjusting (against relevant specification to confirm this distance) 4.2.3 To combine with old foundation closely, while secondary grouting, should shovel foundation face to pockmark. Shovel one by one pits on foundation face, their diameters are about 30-50mm. The distances between them are different, according to their differences sizes, generally about 150mm. Shovel gap on the corner of foundation to make the secondary grouting more solid. 4.2.4 After inspecting foundation and it meets requirements, can inbuilt pivot .As basis of aligning centerline ,pivot locates measure elevation place generally , against factory zero point to measure its elevation . 4.2.5Check special measure tools for crossing, such as special bracket, piano chord hammer, thedolite, level instrument, should meet technical requirements. According to drawing and installation specifications, cross vertical horizontal centerline and pivot (or elevation line) on the foundation of ball mill, and vertical horizontal centerline of transmission assembly. 4.2.6 Pre-installed anchor bolts should clean rust and oil on them, but the thread parts are still painted oil to prevent rust. Check whether bolts and nuts connect well or not. Anchor and bushing should be installed protective cover to prevent debris from falling into anchor bolt hole. Before burying, check if bushing and anchor connect well and meet dimension requirements or not. As the same time, inspect whether anchor bolt location comes up to general and foundation drawing or not.

4.2.7 Can self-made base plate and washer and they must touch with bottom-board of soleplate. Note: Make washer by 25mmX100mm steel plates and length are not greater than soleplate width. The number of them is no less than eight pieces, uniformly distributed. Make base plate by different thickness steel plates, no more than two pieces on each base plate.

Secondary grouting after ball mill no load test normally. Before secondary grouting, should tighten anchor bolts, clean oil, paint , rust on the bearing clock and base plate, sweep dust and oil soil on the foundation with water .After that , start secondary grouting. When secondary grouting, cement mortar used in the ratio of 1:2(cement grade 525), note that fill full of bearing block underneath with cement mortar and consolidate, don’t exist gap. 4.2.9 Tighten anchor bolts Anchor bolt nut must equip washers and tighten it by locking equipment, such as spring washer or double nuts. Only when Concrete meets 75% of design intensity, allow tightening anchor bolts. Remark direction of rectangle head on the surface of bolt top and direction of foundation contains rectangle head slot on the foundation surface. After burying pieces insert bolt, fill their back cut with batched jute about 200mm to ram the gap between bushing and bolt. 4.3 Main bearing Only when foundation intensity meets above 75% and passes examination, can install main bearing on foundation. 4.3.1Before installing bearing base plate, must clean it and cross vertical and horizontal centerline on its surface as aligning baseline. install it and anchor bolt together on the foundation and adjust it to the correct location. 4.3.2Center distance between two base plates should comply with rule of designing drawing /file (tolerance is not greater than 2mm). After installing Shell and end cap, actual size and design size have bias sometimes, under this condition, construct against actual size if relevant parts agree that. 4.3.2Measure relevant elevation between two main-bearing base plates with liquid-connected equipment /theodolite, tolerance is 0.5mm; make sure feed end is higher than discharge end, measure elevation and level simultaneously. 4.3.3 Place bearing block on bearing board and make their centerline coincide, observation holes toward outside, their interface connect equably, parts gap isn’t greater than 0.1mm, end length untouched is not more than 100mm,total length is not greater than 1/4 of circumference length, otherwise, it should be handled. Before installation, should check if bearing bushing face and trunnion of sell end cap connect well or not? Inspect whether bushing back and bushing base connect well or not, without jamming, with appropriate gap. 4.3.4 After installing bushing, should test its pressure, value isn’t lower its

than rated working pressure of high pressure oil pump, testing time isn’t less than 30min, if discover leakage ,should eliminate it drastically. 4.3.5Before installing cap ,should put through cooling water pipe firstly and then test pressure. Testing pressure is 0.4-0.6Mpa, testing time is 30 min, should be no leakage. 4.3.6 After installing bearing base, check if cooling tube in bearing block and trunnion connect well or not, bushing clamp and gap between bushing should meet requirements of drawing. At last, clean foreign matters in bearing block and blank off all of unuseless hole pit bolts, fill sealing ring gouge with lithium grease where main shaft and trunnion connect and test whether grease nipple is unimpeded. 4.3.7 Install ring seal according to technical requirements of drawing. 4.4Turning assembly (feeding assembly, discharging assembly , shell, gear ) 4.4.1Before installing turning assembly, check quill shaft and repair damnification of surface. Such as corrosion, scratch and so on. At the same time, clean glitch, fins and anti-corrosive paint, if can’t install right now after cleaning, should daub anti-corrosive grease on machined surface and pack it. 4.4.2Before installing turning assembly on bearing, should equip lower

housing of bearing firstly. After installing it, must measure its overall length and length between two trunnions. Also, correct it with center distance of bearing block, if isn’t discrepancy, need to modify foundation. Before installing turning assembly on main bearing assembly , should clean interior of main bearing and trunion ,when install shell ,prohibit fastening wire ropes on trunnion so as to score surface of it, during installation ,should avoid dust falling into surface of bushing ,when trunnion fall to connect bushing closely ,about 5-10mm,shell should pause falling, at this time ,wash bushing surface and trunnion by diesel, after that , add a little lubrication oil on them and then put trunnion on the bushing ,shouldn’t bruising it. 4.4.3After installing shell on main bearing, should check if generatrix of two trunnions are at the same horizontal plan or not and their bias shouldn’t greater than 1mm, Also feeding end should higher than discharging end. At the same time ,measure the gap between internal end surface of moving end(feeding end ) trunnion and bushing surface should more than 15mm. 4.4.4Before installing gear on shell, should put lower housing of gear on its location and check gear cover. If discover leakage ,should get rid of it

cooling)and roast by open fire; if cold stock ,temperature isn’t lower than -80℃ 。 4.6 Install clutch Accord to installation manual strictly and check all parts dimension (such as diameter ,length ,keyway, chamfer, interference) firstly ,when heat pack ,heating to required temperature by oil or metal box, forbid roasting by open fire, error of axiality of driven shaft which need to be contacted shouldn’t exceed 0.2mm. 4.7Lubrication system Before installing lubrication system, should clean oil tank firstly, then accord to manufacturer instruction for installation after passing inspection. During installation, oil drain hole of oil tank should extend to its foundation outside and distance away from ground isn’t less than 300mm (or set pits), otherwise, it is inconvenience to discharge oil.

4.7.2 Before installation, should pickling steel pipe firstly by 20% sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid solution, during the washing process should observe momentarily, after removing rust, immerse pipe to 3% limewater about 1-2 hours to neutralize them and then inject lubrication oil into pipe to prevent re-rusting, at the same time, block both ends of pipe to prevent dust. Above operation should be continuous. Parallel or cross-pressure pipeline, there should be a space between two tube walls to prevent vibration interference. After installing lubrication system, should be tested, testing pressure throughout the cooling water is not less than 0.45Mpa and no leakage within 30min ,high-pressure pipeline test pressure shouldn’t lower than the high-pressure pump rated pressure, test pressure 30min. 4.7.3Returning pipeline must be tilted to the direction of oil tank and its slope isn’t less than 1:40. 4.7.4 Lubricating medium and dosage a. Main bearing: Recommend N200-N460 Industrial gear oil GB5903-1995.Input dosage against oil standard instruction (about 1m3) b. Rolling bearing: Recommend lithium-based grease No.3 GM GB7324-1994.Amount shall not exceed the 1/2volume of bearing cavity .

a. Tighten all of bolts as requirements b. The lubrication and cooling systems should be consistent with design requirements and the relevant film, all pipe valve should be flexible , no leakage, oil surface is up to required elevation ,if in winter, heating lubrication oil to 20-25℃ and check the flow of oil ,gas, water ,pressure. c. All security contacting signal and protect device should be flexible ,interlock normally , apparatus show correctly. d. Check if accessory equipment have been installed and perform normally or not, after starting, material shall be unimpeded. e. 6.2 Emergency Stop During operation process, sometimes with a certain special

Anchor bolts of main bearing, transmission equipment and the main motor loose.. h. Other required an emergency stop condition. During an emergency stopping, should stop feeding instantaneously and cut down motor and power of other assemblies, after then, deal with the accident. 6.3 Stop on a long time Long-term stop, Shell cooling and contract gradually, trunnion slides on bearing to reduce friction and axial tension generated by shell contraction, start high-pressure oil pump about two minutes every sessions after stopping machine, so as to maintain a certain film Thickness between the Trunnion and bushing of bearing.

Stopping in winter, should exhaust all cooling water of water cooling assembly (blowing with compressed air) and to avoid Frost Crack pipeline. Generally, before stopping, should stop feeding, after then, stop ball mill running soon. Plan long-stay parking, should clean media and materials out in order to avoid distorting shell and consoled load. 6.46 when operating normally, operator must observe and pay attention to the following matters. 6.4.1 If not feeding, ball mill shouldn’t operate with a long-term so as not to damage linings and consume media. 6.4.2 Feeding uniformly is one of the important conditions that ball mail can work with optimum working efficiency, so operator should ensure to feed uniformity. 6.4.3 Inspect wear pattern of liner and media in shell, replace rupture bushing in time and replace or tighten bolts which are loosed or break off, in order to avoid to worn out shell 6.4.4Check and ensure that all lubrication points are full fill with enough cleaning lubricating oil (grease), scavenge filter of thin oil station should be cleaned once time at least per month and check quality of lubricating every six months, if necessary, should replace new oil.

At the same time, check the meshing case and record its wearing depth, check if bolts of gear loose or not. d. check clutch and make a record, replace the wearing parts. e. inspect and repair the easy-wear parts of the feeding and discharging device. f. replace parts of ball mill liner. g. Check the bearing alloy thickness of main bearings h. Check if cooling water system, pipeline are blocked or leak or not, replacing aging oil rubber tubes (in the main bearing box). 7.2 medium repairs The medium repairs cycle is generally 12 months, overhaul items as follows: a. including current repair items b. Replacement of Liner c. Check or replace bushing of feeding and discharging. d. check , repair or replace pinion. e. Check and adjust horizontal position of shell, inspect concentricity of drive shaft, clutch and motor.

f. clean up oil inside gear cover. g. inspect and calibrate instruments. h. other items needed to be repaired.

7.3heavy repairs The heavy repairs cycle is generally 15-10 years, according to the damaged degree, overhaul items as follows: a. Including items of current and medium repair. b. Replace bushing of main shaft and gear, pinion. c. Repair or replace end covers of feeding and discharge devices d. Inspect foundation , re-aligning and cast second time In short, install and usage of ball mill must be accordance with the technical requirements of relevant standards, specifications, drawings strictly.
