ly of sb./sth. 对某人/某物评价很低(印象不好) think much/highly/well of 重视,看重,对.....高度评价 speak highly of 高度赞扬…… 注意:用于被动结构时,副词置于 thought 之前,即构成 be highly/well/much thought of 被........高度评价 Mr.Zhang thinks much of his work, but thinks of money.张先生重视工作,轻视金钱。 As a young leader, he is well thought of. 作为一位年轻的领导,他受到高度评价。 2.give out ① 放出,发出(热,光等) ;② 分发;发表,公布(消息) ;③ 耗尽,用完,筋疲力尽 The flowers give out a sweet smell. 这些花散发出甜甜的味道。 The teacher gave out the examination papers to the pupils. 老师把试卷发给学生。 It was given out that taxes would be raised again. 税金又要提高的消息公布了。 Both my strength and money gave out. 我的力气和金钱都用完了。 拓展:give away 赠送,颁发,泄露 give off 放出,发出(气味,光,热等) 3.be kown/famous as 作为......而闻名 be known/famous for 因.....而闻名 be known to 对.....来说出名 Yuan Longping is known as a farming scientist.袁隆平作为一位农业科学家而闻名。 Qingdao is known for its beautiful scenery.青岛以它美丽的景色而闻名。 Her name is known to everyone now. 她的名字现在人人皆知。 4. dig out (dug, dug)① 挖走② 挖出;挖掘出③ 发现;找出 The gardener dug out the weeds.园林工人铲除了杂草。 The rescuers managed to dig out the trapped miners.救护人员设法挖出了困在矿下的工人。 Some people are still being dug out of the ruins of the building.人们仍在挖掘压在建筑物废墟里的一些人。 Through investigation they have dug out all the facts.通过调查,他们已弄清了所有事实。 联想扩展: dig into 钻研 dig up 掘起;挖出 5.express ①vt.表达,表示,express fears/doubts/ interest/regret/surprise/concern 表示担心/怀疑关注/遗憾/ 惊讶/担忧,通常不接双宾语。 他对她表示了他的谢意。误:He expressed her his thanks. 正:He expressed his thanks to her. She expressed surprise when I told her how much it was. 当我告诉她价钱时,她表示惊讶。 Teachers have expressed concern about the emphasis on testing. 老师们对太着重考查成绩的现象表示担忧。 ②.express oneself,其意为表达自己的意思、思想、感情等。 She expresses herself most fully in her paitings. 她把自己的感情在画作中表现得淋漓尽致。 ③ 其后一般不直接接 that-从句,但可接疑问词引导的从句。如: I expressed my wish that I would go to Beijing on an express train. 我表达了我想坐特快列车去北京的愿望。 I can’t express (to you) how grateful I am for your help. 你对我的帮助,我感激不尽。 adj.快速的,快递的,特快的。an express train(快车)/an express letter(快信)/ express delivery services 快递服务 adv. 表示用快邮寄送或乘快车等。如:The parcel was sent express. 这包裹是用快邮寄的。 n.表示快车或快邮,快递服务等。如:I caught the 10:00 express to Guangzhou.我坐的是 10 点开往的快车。 6. trap (trapped;trapped) vt.困住,使陷入困境;卡住,夹住;捕捉,收集;使陷入圈套,诱骗 n.圈套,陷阱,计谋;恶劣处境 相关短语: be trapped in 陷入某种处境 trap sb into doing sth 诱骗某人做某事 set a trap 设置陷阱 fall/walk into a trap 落入圈套 He felt he had been trapped into accepting the terms of the contract.他觉得自己是中了圈套才接受这合同条款的。 He was trapped in an unhappy marriage. 他陷入不幸的婚姻之中。 By the timncerne he realizes he has walked into a trap, it’ll be too late for him to do anything about it. 当他意识到已经进入一个圈套的时候,对于他来说做任何事情也都为时已晚了。 句型(一)as.........as 结构(在否定句中,第一个 as 也可换成 so。 ) 其基本意思为“与…一样”,其中的第一个 as 为副词,其后通常接形容词或副词(用原级),第二个 as 可用作介

词(后接名词或代词)或连词(后接从句)。 He speaks English well indeed, but of course not as fluently a native speaker. A typhoon hit this area with heavy rains and winds as strong as what happened in 2008 . 台风伴随着强降雨袭击了该地区,其猛烈程度绝不亚于 08 年的那次。 根据比较对象和性质的不同又可以把此种结构分为三种: 1.“ as … as …结构”用于表示不同人或物同一性质的比较,意为“……和……一样…… " 。 The tree is as tall as the building(is) .这棵树和那栋楼一样高。 2.“ as … as …结构”用于表示同一个人或物不同性质的比较,意为“既……又……” 。 This swimming pool is as wide as it is long. 这个游泳池宽度和长度相等。 It is generally believed that teaching is as much an art as it is a science. 人们普遍相信(一般认为),教学既是一 门科学,也是一门艺术 3.“ as … as …结构”用于表示两个人或物不同性质的比较,表示程度相同或相当,意为“……而……”。 He was as experienced as his brother was green.他经验丰富,而他兄弟却涉世未深。 Danny is not so/as wise as he is witty . 丹尼为人风趣,但欠明智。 使用时应注意以下几点。如: (1) 该结构的两个 as 之间通常接形容词或副词的原级,as many/much/far/long as +具体数词:到达某种程度 The number of the students in that school reaches as many as 4,000. 那所学校的学生数量多达 4000 人。 John is the tallest boy in the class ,as tall as five foot eight according to himself. John 是我们班上最高的学生,按照他的说法,他的身高是五英尺八。 as…as 中间有名词时采用以下格式: ①as +形容词+ a/an +单数名词+as ②as + many/much+不可数名词/ 可数名词复数+as He is as kind a person as his father. 他和他爸爸一样都是善良的人。 I have as many books as you do. (2) 第二个 as 后接从句时,该 as 通常为连词,但有时这个 as 还充当其后从句的主语或宾语,此时该 as 实为 关系代词。如: I gave him as much as he could eat. 他能吃多少,我就给了他多少。 We’ve got food for as many people as want it. 我们的食物,无论多少人吃都够了。 (3) 该结构根据情况可用使用以下修饰语。如:(not) nearly, almost, just, nothing like, exactly, not quite, half, one-ten, twice, three times(倍数),30 percent 等,并且这些修饰语必须置于第一个 as 之前,而不能置于其后。 He doesn’t play half as well as his sister. 他演奏的水平不及他姐姐的一半。 It’s reported that the United States uses twice as much energy as the whole Europe. (4) 若第二个 as 引导一个表示将来意义的从句,则该从句可用现在时表示将来,也可直接使用将来时态。 We’ll get there as soon as you do (will). 你一到,我们就到。 (二)too........to 结构 表示“太.......以至于不能.......(表否定),可转化为 not.....enough to....和 so.....that........ The child is too young to dress himself. =The child is not old enough to dress himself. =The child is so young that he can’t dress himself.=He is such a young child that he can’t dress himself. The rules of the game are too complicated to explain in a few words.这个游戏规则太复杂,三言两语理解不清。 (1)当 too 后接 easy,ready,happy,willing,eager,anxious,glad, ready, pleased 等表示“积极”意义的词汇时,to 后的动 词表示肯定。注:这类句子中的 too 通常含有 very 之意,且 too 前通常会有 only, just 等副词修饰。 We are too ready to help you. 我们很乐意帮助你。 I shall be only too pleased to get home. 我要回到家里就非常高兴。 Being too anxious to help an event develop often results in the contrary to our intention. 太着急帮助一件事物发展,结果往往和我们的意图相反(欲速则不达)。 (2)too........not to.......句式表示肯定意思 He is too careful not to have noticed it. 他那么细心,不会不注意到这一点的。 (3)too......to 中 too 前面用了否定词(如 never)时,表示肯定。 It is never too late to mend. 改过不嫌晚。
