Unit 5 Films ---Grammar 2

Teaching objectives:
To get the Ss to give advice using “should, ought to, had better, have to,

must ” and “ Why not…? Why don’t
you

…? Perhaps (you should )…” in

different correct ways.

3. *review 4.soft drink 5. as slim as 6. * film review Sentences: 1. We had better arrive early so that you will not miss anything. 2. You have to keep quiet while watching the film. 3. I can’t decide which film to watch. Grammar: Give advice using “should, ought to, had better, have to, must ” and “ Why not…? Why don’t you …? Perhaps (you should )…”

What should we do when we are at the cinema?

What shouldn’t we do when we are at the cinema? Task 1: Please look at these sentences and
choose the best answers.

Dos and Don’ts at the cinema: had better You __________ (had better, must) arrive early so that you will not miss anything.

Instructions for using the lab: Dos: Please give us advice using “had better, have to, should, must, ought to”. Listen to your teacher carefully. Follow your teacher’s instructions.

Some other structures of giving advice We can also give advice using “why not”, “why don’t you” and “perhaps”.

Finish the exercises on P87.

Read the sentences together/ in pairs.
Work out the rules on P87.

Complete the dialogue: 1) Amy: Hi, Aunt Pauline. Where are you going? Aunt Pauline: I am going to Shenzhen for a business trip. Amy: Your suitcases look very heavy.________ Perhaps I can help you carry one of them. Aunt Pauline: Thank you. 2) Emily: Oh, it's very hot today. Where can I go?
