Leaving the field of competition due to a serious knee injury, China's tennis ace(优秀 运动员) Li Na couldn't help holding back tears at a news conference. She tearfully waved goodbye to her fans on Tuesday night. “It's very tough to say goodbye, but she promise she will be around the court." She said. “Li's retirement is a big loss for Chinese and Asian tennis as a whole. We all hope she could have played longer and feel so sorry that she had to quit for injury.”said her fans, who might have no chance to see Li Na swing for a shot in real matches. In addition to her amazing tennis ability and warm and humorous personality, she is a pioneer who opened the door to tennis for hundreds of millions of people throughout China and Asia. Not only is she the player of this decade, but also she is a tennis legend, who has inspired a nation and done so much for the game in Asia-Pacific. She has inspired a generation of young girls throughout Asia-Pacific with hopes that, they too, can achieve the dream. Her legacy and contribution will leave for decades, not only for WTA, but also for China. In total, she reached 21 WTA singles finals, highlighted by two Grand Slam titles at 2011 Roland Garros and 2014 Australian Open, as well as semifinals at the US Open and quarterfinals at Wimbledon. We will miss her – her beautiful smile and funny personality. She deserves all the glories. She is a British athlete by the name of Tanni Grey-Thormpson. Born with spine hifida (脊椎裂) which left her paralysed from the waist， Tanni used a wheelchair from the age of 7. In the same year she achieved the first of her six London Wheelchair Marathon victories. Tanni’s success had been part motivation, part preparation, “The training I do enables me to be a good sprinter(短跑运动员), and enables me to be good at a marathon as well. I train 50 weeks of the year and that keeps me prepared for whatever distance I want to see…. I am still competing against the other competitors in the games at a very high level, but as I get older, things get harder and I want to retire before I fall apart.” Indeed Tanni retired finally after the Visa Paralympic World Cup in 2007. Her wish is to coach young athletes for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. In spite of ups and downs, she never takes her fate lying down, nor does she give up. In her splendid life, she has won an amazing eleven gold medals, four silvers and one bronze in series of Paralympics- a top level athletic career covering two decades. She has not only won the London Wheelchair Marathon six times, more than any other competitor, but also she has set over thirty world records. She admitted that she devoted all her time to the games, but all deserves struggling. What advice does she have for young athletes? “Work hard at your studies, and then train, train and train again.”

I’m glad to introduce my classmate, Liu Xin to you . Three weeks ago, she took part in the school sports meeting in which she would compete against/with the opponents from other classes for the first place. She promised that she would fight for the honor of her class as well as for herself. As she knew, good preparations played an important role in victory，so she asked the teacher in charge of the training for advice and then she took an active part in training. There’s as much competition among athletes to attend the meeting as to win the games. Not only did she stand for herself to compete, but also she stood for her classmates to compete. The more she thought, the harder she trained. As a matter of fact, it was her effort that made her take the first place. When interviewed，she didn’t escape , nor did she show pride. she admitted that the training was boring and hard，but the honor of the class deserved the struggle. Now, she hopes that she will be admitted into a famous university. Yours, Li Hua
