“If you want to see a thing well, reach out（伸出手）and touch it!” That may seem a strange thing to say. But touching things can help you to see them better. Your eyes can tell you that a glass ball is round. But by holding it in your hands, you can feel how smooth（光滑）and cool the ball is. You can feel how heavy the glass is. When you feel all these about the ball, you really see it. With your skin, you can feel better. For example, your fingers can tell the difference between two coins（硬 币）in your pocket. You can feel a little drop of water on the back of your hand, too. All children soon learn what “Don’t touch!” means. They hear it often. Yet most of us keep on touching things as we grow up. In shops, we touch things as we might buy: food, clothes. To see something well, we have to touch it. There are ways of learning to see well by feeling. One way is to close your eyes and try to feel everything that touching your skin. Feel the shoes on your feet, the clothes on your body, the air on your skin. At first, it is not easy to feel these things. You are too used to（习惯于）them! Most museums are just for looking. But today some museums have some things to touch. Their signs say, “Do touch!” There you can feel everything on show. If we want to see better, reach out and touch. Then you will really see! 51. By touching things, ______. Most pop singers use the music to make money and become rich and famous. Rock singers, on the other hand, make music their life. They play music to make themselves feel better and happier. They do not think how much money they can make from a song, instead, they sing for their feelings and live for music. Pop songs and rock songs are written in different ways. A pop song is written in a "factory" where one person writes the words, someone else writes the music, and other musicians record it. The singer often knows little about the ideas or feelings behind the song. As for rock music, however, the singers and musicians are all able to write music and work together in a band. When one of them has a strong feeling, he or she expressed (表达) it with music and the others help build the song. Because of the different ways of thinking and writing songs, rock and pop songs also tell different stories. Most pop songs tell simple stories to make people happy. They are popular for a short time. Rock music, on the other, hand, expresses true feelings. Pop music makes people feel easy and forget about the real world; rock music makes people think about the world and how to make their life better. 61 use the music to make money and become rich and famous

Or they tell the person something they were not supposed to tell. The speaker might say, “I really put my foot in my mouth this time.” In other words, he might feel sad for saying the wrong thing. Sometimes when one person is speaking, he says the same thing that his friend was going to say. When this happens, the friend might say, “You took the words right out of my mouth!” Some people have lots of money because they were born in a very rich family. There is an expression for this, too. Here are the kinds of things people say when they invite someone to their homes: "Would you like to come over for dinner this Saturday night?" "Hey, we're having a party on Friday. Can you come?" To reply to an invitation, either say thank you and accept, or say you're sorry and give an excuse. "Thanks, Fd love to.What time would you like me to come?" or "Oh, sorry. I've tickets for a movie. " Sometimes, however, people use expressions that sound like invitations but which are not real invitations. For
example; "Please come over for a drink sometime. " "Why not get together for a party sometime?" " Why don 't you come over and see us sometime soon?" They are really just polite ways of ending a conversation. They are not real invitations because they don't ment -ion a certain time or date. They just show that the person is trying to be friendly. To reply to expressions like these, people just say "Sure, that would be great!" or "OK. Yes, thanks. " So next time when you hear what sounds like an invitation, listen carefully. Everyone needs friends. There is an old saying: Friends are God’s way of taking care of us. But how do you find real friendship and keep it? “The Care and Keeping of Friends” by American author Sally Seamans tells young students some smart ways to find friends. Sally says finding friendship is just like planting a tree. You plant the seed and take care of it to make it grow. First, you should choose a friend. What makes a good friends? It is not because a person has money or good looks. A good friend should be kind and patient. For example, if you have a bad day, a good friend should listen to your complaints(抱怨) and do their best to help. To make a friend, you cannot be too shy. You should make each other happy and share your lives. But things cannot always be happy. Even the best friends have fights. What should you do when you have a fight with your friend? You have to talk to them. When there is no one around, have an honest talk. If he or she doesn’t want to talk, you could write a letter. Sally says there are three steps to being friends again: Tell him or her how you are feeling; say what your friend has done wrong, and explain why you did this or that. The book also has advice on some small but important things like celebrating your friends’ success. Even if you haven’t had a real friend before, you will start to think of having one if you read this book. Because the book tells that friendship is the most important thing in your life. 1.
www.bltedu.com/
（1）Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
（2）All the following statements are not true except.
（3）Which of the following facts is not mentioned in the supporing details?
A person who is skilled at making or repairing wooden objects is called a carpenter.
Though Tom's face has been washed quite clean, his neck still remains grubby.
because, since 与 as 是连接原因状语从句的从属连词，so 是连接表示结果的状语从句的连词，s o...that 与 such...that 中的 that 是连接结果状语从句的。
She wanted the bairdresser to trim her hair a bit because it was too long.
Most of the roses are beginning to wither because of the cold.
At forty-two he was in his prime and always full of energy.
You can take any of the periodicals: "The World of English"."Foreign Language Teachi ng in Schools", or "English Learning".
The colors of Hawaii in Summer are unforgettable.
www.bltedu.com/
The Internet can show you a lot of jobs all over the world. If you want to find a jo b on the Internet, use the words "job search"or"employment"to find the websites you nee d.
（ ）What does the passage tell you to do first if you want to find a job on the Inte rnet?
A. To type in "job search"to find the websites.
B. To write a good resume.
C. To prepare for an interview
D. To get an English dictionary
What can you conclude（下结论）from this passage?
What's the author's attitude（态度）towards...?
We can infer from the passage that...
Which statement is ( not ) true?
Once there was something wrong with a machine in a factory. The workers could do not hing but turn to a German engineer for help, who drew a line on it and said, "Take off t he part where the line is and change it for a new one."The machine, with a new line on, began running well again. The engineer then asked for $ 30,000 for what he had done. The following were what he wrote on a bill, "The new part only costs one dollar, and knowin g where the problem with the machine is costs $ 29,999."
（ ）What can you conclude from this passage?
A. the engineer asked for too much money
B. the workers should pay the money
C. the knowledge is worth money
D. the new part could cost more www.bltedu.com/

What does the passage mainly talk about?
What is the main idea of this passage?
What does the writer want to tell us?
What is the best title of this passage?
One dollar for changing a new part sounds reasonable（合理的）, but the $ 29,999 is e xactly the value of wisdom and knowledge.
（ ）The best title for the passage should be ________ .
A. The Value of Knowledge
B. Helpless Workers
C. The Expensive Machine
D. The Lucky Factory
（ ）We can guess when a giraffe sees a tiger ______ .
A. it will run away as fast as possible
B. it will run to eat the tiger
C. it will make the tiger bring it something to eat
D. it will make one of the smallest animals bring the tiger something to eat

I'm writing to tell you something about the customs and festivals.
Everyone loves holidays since one doesn't need to go to school or work. Although all holidays mean no school and work, but not all of them are the same. On some of them you go out with friends; on others you stay home to eat, talk, and have fun with your famil y. For example in the U.S., everyone thinks New Year's Eve and New Year are both for par tying with friends. Christmas is the time to stay home and exchange gifts with family me mbers. The opposite is true in Japan though. For example, in Japan, New Year is for spen ding time with the family to eat, talk, have fun, and go to the temples. But Christmas i s for boy and girl friends to go out and exchange gifts. Originally Christmas should be to celebrate the birth of Christ.
