Teaching Plan for Lesson2, Unit13, Rainy days make me sad. Group2
Students analysis: 1. The basics: A normal-sized class with 30 girls and 29 boys. All of have a good vocabulary basis an

d can do well in basic listening. 2. The attitude: Most of them can concentrate on the listening materials, and are aware of taking part in class activities. 3. The ability: Students can understand the listening materials and they are familiar with the listening skills. 4. The strategies: Students listen carefully to get information from the listening materials and when they are listening with different listening objects, they memory and distinguish different words. Learning objectives 1. Word and expressions Understand some adjectives of expressing emotion (e.g. angry, tense, funny, happy sad, and so on); verbs (e.g. make, dance, cry, leave), adjectives (quite, great, late), and some other phrases (e.g. have fun, wait for, have a good time, go to the concert, go to the movie) 2. sentences patterns and strategies: Understand and can make good use of the causative verb “make”, for example, loud music makes me tense. 3. Listening skills and strategies: 1) Predict the listening content and analyze the meaning of the four pictures in the text book. 2) Listen the materials and recognize and check the words in the listening material. 4. Cultural understanding and learning strategies: Students learn to express their attitude and feelings of something, and share these thoughts with others.

Teaching procedures
Stage 1 (Leading-in) (5mins) Step 1Teacher greets the class, and asks Ss’ feelings about the weather, (how is the weather? It makes you feel hot) Step2: teacher takes out four pictures of faces which represent four different emotions, such as smiley, anger, relaxation and sadness, and ask students what are they, and explain them carefully. Step3 T asks Ss to match the four pictures of emotion with the four pictures of the text (e.g. Now can you match the four emotions with these pictures on the text? How do the people feel in the pictures?)

Stage 2 (Pre-listening) (5mins) Step 1:Teacher guides students to understand the four pictures about what are they doing and how do they feel, (e.g. John and Tina are talking about Tina and Amy’s date yesterday, can you guide what are they doing? and how do they look,),and present these word and phrases on the Bb. Step2: Teacher asks students read these words for three times and let them be familiar with these words by inviting some students to make sentences through these words.( e.g. I like going to the movie, it makes me happy.) Stage 3 While- listening (20mins) Step1: T plays the tape of 2a for the first time to let the students be familiar with the listening materials and guess what it is about. Step2: Ss listen for the second time and number the order they heard, teacher asks some students to tell their answer in class, teacher selects different answer and compare them. Step3: Teacher plays the tape again and checks the answers. Step4: Teacher plays the tape again and tell the students to check the things Tina and John said in the text book, after students listen to the tape and write down their answers, teacher asks some students to represent their answers by reading them out, then other students check his answer. Step5: Teacher summarizes the right answers and students listen again to check them. Stage 4 (After-listening)(5mins) Step1: Students read the listening materials after the type twice. Step2: T asks students to do role-play dialogue between Tina and John at 2a and 2b in pairs, and use the example in the text book to begin their conversations (e.g. Did you have fun with Amy last night? Well…yes and no, she was really late.) Step3: T invites some voluntary groups to represent their dialogue in class, teacher asks the other students to find and correct their mistakes. Stage5 summary (5mins) Step 1: teacher and students summarize the usage of causative verb “make” and give some examples (e.g. Loud music makes me tense. Sad movies make me want to leave. Waiting for her made me angry), and teacher use t Step 2: Teacher signs the homework: to write a diary of the activities today and your feeling about something.
