Alanis----A True Performer
Period 1 Teaching goals:
1. Learn to summarize the outline of the whole text. 2. Try to grasp the key words and sentence patterns

. 3. Develop the students’ reading skills, like finding headlines and guessing words.

Learn to outline the text by using the headlines.

Teaching methods:
1.Skimming method to find the headlines. 2.Task-based method to finish the teaching assignment. 3.Discussing method to arouse the students’ interest in music and dance.

Teaching aids:
A computer and a projector

Teaching procedures &ways:
Step I Talk with the students about the kinds of music and briefly introduce the rock&roll music ,symphony music and symphony orchestra. (Show some pictures) Step II Have you ever watched a concert “live”, on TV or on video? Tell the class about it using the Key Words to help you.

step III show students a Alanis’ song in a concert on video and get students to talk about it.
Show students some pictures of Alanis Morissette and give a brief introduction Step IV Read the concert review and match the four paragraphs with the titles. the start of the concert ( ) the songs played ( ) how the audience reacted ( ) the end of the concert ( ) Step V Read the review again and answer these questions 1) Did the reviewer like the concert? Why or why not? 2) How did the audience react to the singer? 3) What things about the concert were not very good? 4) From which album were most of the songs?
