3 High-Speed Analysis Through the Use
of Automatic Boat Controller ( ABC)
Operation is started simply by placing a sample in the sample boat. Analysis is performed automatically in about 5-10 minutes. The standard system enables sample analysis to be performed with outstanding reproducibility. Since the sample inlet box is provided with a cooling function (electronic cooling), the sample boat can be cooled in a short time.

Measurement Principle

Chlorine Analysis burned
Samples are burned in an Argon/Oxygen atmosphere. The resulting chloride is lead into a titration cell where it is automatically titrated by silver ions generated coulometrically. The amount of chlorine is then calculated from the quantity of electricity required for the titration.

The Total Nitrogen Detector Option enables measurement Total of total nitrogen when connected to the TOX-100 system, thus making it possible to measure microscopic quantities of total nitrogen in resins and petrochemical products.

Measurement Principle

The sample is introduced into the combustion tube packed with oxidative catalyst using Argon carrier gas. High temperature oxidation (800-900°C) occurs here and all chemically bound nitrogen is converted to nitric oxide (NO). NO then passes through the chemiluminescence detector where it is mixed with ozone to form excited nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 *).

TOX-100 System Program
By connecting the TOX-100 system with a personal computer, the TOX-100 System Program gives the PC side control of such operations as switching the heater on and off, starting and stopping titration and setting titration parameters. Moreover, the program is 32-bit compatible, and with Microsoft Windows?95/98 and Microsoft?Jet data base management software, the following functions are provided:

Data Base Query
The system uses Microsoft ? Jet software as its data base manager.Tiltration data (Analysis Parameters.) and measurement data (blank data, calibration data, sample data, etc.) are all stored in the data base. To make effective use of the data base, the TOX-100 system program employs multiple keywords to provide data search function. Calibration, samples and other data registered in the data base can be quickly searched for. In addition, queried data is stored in CSV format and can be used with other application software, allowing free handling of data.

Measurement of samples can be facilitated by inputting a list of samples into the Method File in advance. Open the Method File and select samples to start running the measurement process. Template of the Method File is included in the package as a standard.

System Merits
The model TOX-100 is the completely overhauled successor to the previous TOX-10 system. It is designed to measure and analyze newly regenerated TOX (AOX), POX and EOX. Employing our original coulometric and activated carbon (AC) technologies officially certified internationally by the EPA, ASTM, ISO and DIN, the system measures trace amount of organic halogen in water with high sensitivity and accuracy.

The TOX-100 is equipped with all necessary systems for measuring TOX. It can measure TOX (AOX) in conjunction with the TXA-03 Adsorption Module, POX (purgeable organic halogens) with the POX100 POX Sparger and EOX (extractable organic halogens) with the CRI-100H Constant Rate Injector.

Adsorption and Washing
A sample of 10-200 is passed at a constant rate of approximately 3 /min. through two columns filled with activated carbon (40 x 2), causing AOX adsorption by the activated carbon. The adsorbed columns are moved to a washing channel, rinsed with a nitrate solution (approx. 0.8%, 2 ), and the partially adsorbed inorganic halogen compound is removed.

Combustion
The activated carbon adsorbing the AOX is extruded into the sample boat, and the boat inserted into the pyrolysis tube. The AOX together with activated carbon is burned in an Oxygen stream and converted into hydrogen halide.

Titration
The generated hydrogen halide is guided into a titration cell where automatic titration is effected by coulometrically-generated silver ions.

From the quantity of electricity determined by titration, the halogen amount is calculated based on Faraday’s law and displayed in a chlorine-equivalent value.

Using AOX Auto Sampler Model Auto AOX-100 enables quick measurement of AOX in waste water, tap water, and underground water. Epoch-making AOX sampler was made possible by technology fostered in Germany which is advanced in AOX.

Features

The needs for measuring AOX in waste water, factory waste water, tap water and underground of our own low-blank activated carbon and automation technologies.
A maximum of 40 columns can be set on the sample table (carousel). Samples are measured automatically by lining up columns which have adsorbed AOX. The carousel is purged by Argon gas, effectively preventing contamination from the atmosphere. The activated carbon columns lined up on the carousel are extruded into a sample boat, and placed inside an electric furnace by the built-in Auto Boat Controller (ABC). Ash remaining in the boat is discarded when measurement is complete.
