Book 1 Module3 My First Ride on a Train Part 1 Teaching Material: In this section the students are intended to learn some new words in relation to the means of transport. And they may describ

e the first time they travelled a long distance and say how old they were, where they went and who they went with. Part 2 Analysis of the Students Most of the students are from the rural areas and English is always what they are not interested in. They have a poor foundation of English. If teachers show them some pictures or a short video and explain basically and simply, most students will develop the interest in english gradually and then become active. Part 3 Teaching Aims 1 Knowledge : Learn the new words of means of transport: bicycle, bus, ferry, helicopter, motorbike, plane, taxi, train, tram… 2 Ability: Train the students’ abilities of speaking 3. Emotion: To ask the students to learn to describe their travel experience Part 4 Teaching Important and Difficult Points: 1. Encourage the Ss to talk about means of transport. 2. Learn and master the words. 3. Lead the Ss to talking in class actively. Part 5 Teaching Method: Task-based and Communicative Approach, focusing on the studnts. Make use of multimedia. Part 6 Teaching Procedure 1. Pre-task: Lead in Step 1 Ask the Ss some questions to lead in the topic----means of transport. Q1: How do you go to school every day? Q2: If you have a chance to visit a city, how will you travel there? Purpose: Try to make the Ss bring out as many words about transportation as possible. Step 2 Play a short video about the development of the means of transport. Purpose: Let the Ss feel the development and arise their interest. 2. Task- cycle: New words learning Step 1. Show the Ss some pictures, and teach them the words Purpose: The Ss can know and master the words effectively with pictures and description. Step 2. Summarise the words and teach them how to read these words, if necessary, correct their pronunciation . Purpose: Recall what they learn today to strengthen the Ss’ impression of these words.

3. Post-task: Speaking (describing their travel experience) Step1. Show the Ss the important factors of describing when, where, how ,who, and what Purpose: The factors can help the Ss describe the experience orderly Step2. Show the Ss some examples Eg: I first traveled a long distance by train when I was six years old. I went with my parents from Shanghai to Beijing. I first visited Disneyland by subway when it was my summer vacation. I went with my good friends . I felt it was funny. Purpose: With the help of the examples, the Ss can finish the task easily Step3 1. Ask the Ss to work in groups of four and talk about their travel experience. 2. Ask someone to show his/her experience. Purpose: Raise the Ss’cooperation awareness in their study by group work and share their achievements. 4. Homework Revise the INTRODUCTION. Go over the next part READING AND VOCABULARY.

Part 7 Teaching Reflection 1.Speaking can be used as a tool to develop students’ communicative abilities 2. By teaching teachers can help students learn to dicover problems by themselves and solve them on their own or work in groups, developing the spirit of teamwork. 3. Make good use of multimedia to stimulate the students to be interested in english. Through pictures and videos, teachers can inspire the students to study initiatively and enjoy taking part in classes. 4.Teaching is a two-side process requring teachers’ instruction and students’participation. Teachers should be good at controlling and instructing the class. Meanwhile, they should make studnets participate in the class effectively.So tachers can give some examples to reduce the difficulty for them. With the examples helping, the students can complete the task well.

Module 6 The Internet and Telecommunications
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. It’ s my great honor and pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you. I have been ready to begin this presentation with five parts,analysis of the teaching material, the teaching aims, the important and difficult points, the teaching methods, and the teaching procedure. Part 1 Teaching Material T the content of my lesson is module 6 in New Standard English Book 1. This module is about the internet and the telecommunications. By studying of this unit, we’ll enable students to know more about and the internet and the telecommunications and develop the interest in IT. At the same time, let the students learn how to use the Internet properly and to help with their study. Reading and vocabulary is the second part of this module (the first is introduction) and we can see that reading plays an important role in English teaching. Therefore whether an English teacher can teach reading successfully should be an important criterion to evaluate an English teacher. (As we all know, reading belongs to the input during the process of the language learning. The input has great effect on output, such as speaking and writing). Therefore, this lesson will focus on the reading teaching. If the Ss can master it well, it will be helpful for them to learn the rest of this unit. Part 2 Teaching Aims According to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus (新课程标准和教学大纲), and after studying the teaching material, the teaching aims are the followings: 1. Knowledge objectives (1)The Ss can master the usage of the important words and expressions. . (2)The Ss can understand the content of the lesson, talk about the origin and development of the Internet and get their own idea about the advantages and disadvantages of using the Internet. 2. Ability objectives (1) To develop the Ss’ abilities of speaking and reading. (2) To guide Ss to set up effective studying strategies. (3) To improve the student’s reading ability, especially their skimming and scanning ability. (4) To train the Ss’ abilities of studying by themselves and cooperating. 3. Emotion or moral objectives (1)By completing the task, the Ss increase their interest in IT and set up positive attitude towards the Internet (2)Teach the Ss to love science and use science to help with their studies, and put the moral education in the language study. Part 3 the Important and Difficult Points Based on the requirement of the syllabus, The important points: 1) Encourage the students to talk about computers as well as the Internet. 2) Help the ss make sense of the passage. The difficult points are: 1) Lead the ss to talk in class actively. 2) Deal with some difficult language points. Part 4 Teaching Methods As is known to us all, a good teaching method requires that the teacher should help Ss develop good sense of the English language. For achieving these teaching aims, (after the analysis of the teaching material and teaching aims,) I will use the following methods according to the modern social communication teaching theories . 1. Communicative Approach 2. Whole Language Teaching 3. Task-based Language Teaching 4. Total Situational Action a “scene — activity” teaching method , it establishes a real scene and the interaction between the teacher and the Ss. At the same time, CAI can provide a real situation with its sound and picture, it can develop the Ss creativity in learning English. Part 5 Teaching procedures Step1.Lead-in 1. Show some pictures about parts of a computer (Purpose: To help the Ss to review some words about parts of a computer.) 2Show some words about computers as well as the Internet (Purpose: To enable the Ss to master those words.) T: Today, we are going to talk about the Internet. So tell me who has a computer at home? S: Students’ own answer. T: Do you know what do you use a computer for? S: yes. T: let’s play a game. I will divide the class into two parts. One part is boys, the other is girls. Let’s see which group gets more words to describe the computer. Step2.Pre-reading(5mins) 1 Warming-up T: “Which websites do you often visit? Do you know who invented it?” (Purpose: To arouse the Ss’ interest and to introduce the passage.) T: How much do you know

about the Internet? What can you do on the Internet? S: the students’ own answers. 2 New words Have the students read them after the teacher and make sure they know what they mean. contain, access, crash, keyword, software, log, source, accessible, defence, via, percentage, design , document, invention, permission, military; log on/off, consist of, break down(Purpose :To smooth away the difficulties in reading the passage.) Step 3 While-reading(15mins) Task 1 Fast- reading Who invented the Internet? What is the Internet? What is the world Wide Web? (Purpose: To help the Ss get the general idea of the passage and develop the Ss’ skills of fast reading.) Skimming: Ss should read the material fast to choose the best title for the passage and find out the main idea for each paragraph. Ask Ss to check their answer with their partners and then the teacher calls back the answer. Para 4 Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web Para 5 The development of WWW. Para 6 The present situation of Berners-Lee. Task 2 Careful reading 1.True or False questions. 1. The Internet also has its advantages and disadvantages (Purpose: To help the Ss realize its advantages and disadvantages; to cultivate their thinking ability and to improve the Ss ’spoken English through discussion.) Step 5 Summary and homework(2mins) Summary: Many other things can be done on the internet, not just playing games! Make it a tool to help you, not a trap to destroy you! Homework: Suppose your friend John is addicted to (沉溺于)the Internet , please write an Email to him to give your advice. Part 6 Blackboard work Module 6 the Internet and Telecommunication download websites Purpose of my design: Enable students to understand the given material better by using different reading skills. And proper competition can arouse the Ss’ interest in English learning. “Task-based” teaching method is used here to develop the Ss’ability of communication and also their ability of co-operation will be well trained.
