Bespoke dredger for recycling project Damen Dredging’s won a contract from sereant to design and build a special cutter suction dredger for the port of Antwerp’s AMORAS silt recycling project
Scheduled for delivery in September, the CSD will be customized to meet the precise needs of the dredging and sludge treatment processes for the project, resulting in 500,000 tonnes of treated dry material a year The cutter will be fitted with a ladder with a maximum swinging width of 24m capable of dredging to 18m. And since some of the silt is likely to be contaminated, a vital element of the designing is a barge unloader that can pump contaminated material directly to shore by means of a powerful inboard dredge pump. To aid the dredger’s manoeuvrability - she’ll be 34m long and 9.5m wide-she will be equipped with four spud poles, two of which will be integrated in a spud carriage. Winches on the latter will all be hydraulically driven, sa will be the cutterhead. Both inboard Damen dredge pumps – type BP45-1100 and rated 3,000m3/h each – are to be electrically driven and will connect to a 450mm-diameter discharge line of 300m length that will then connect to a sand separation plant. And the operating
cabin’s situated on top of the accommodation unit, commanding an excellent view of both decks and job site.
