We have just enjoyed Obama’s fantastic speech and learned about some useful speaking skills, but is it really enough? I don’t think so. To make an effective public speaking, most important of
all, you should have courage and confidence. Have the courage to take every opportunity and have the confidence to take your thinking into practice. According to the survey conducted in the USA, the top 5 fears of people are public speaking, heights, insects and bugs, financial problems and deep water. 41% of the 3000 respondents list "fear of public speaking" as their No.1 fear, compared to only 19% who list "death.”. When asked why they make such a choice, some claimed that they are lack of self consciousness, being afraid that people will laugh at their mistakes. There are also lots of people, who have self-esteem problems, believing that they don’t have much to offer, so nothing meaningful to say. Other respondents hold the view that speaking is just a waste of time. However, is there anyone, in the world, a born wonderful public speaker? How can you know that you cannot fulfill it well before you taking the first step? I think it is really foolish for you to give up your opportunities of speaking in public just for being self-abased. Speaking in public is, of course, not such a difficult thing out of our abilities. Every one of us is unique and has something special to say. We should’t always worry about being teasing for our strange ideas. Or even develop a habit of believing that we just have nothing to say gradually. What the world will be, if Darwin didn’t publish The Origin of Species, Newton didn’t publish The Law of Universal Gravitation only for lack of courage and confidence? Only through public speaking can you convey your great discover or study to the public. Don’t always say that you don’t have meaningful ideas. Who knows? Don’t always caring about other’s ridicule. So what? When you have something to say, just stand before the audience and tell everyone your opinions confidently. It’s your turn now!
