Reading journal I have read about 60 pages of The Diary of a Young Girl this week. And I found that Anne has grown up to an adolescent girl. She falls in love with Peter! In Anne’s diary, she
writes: “This is the first Saturday for months and months that hasn’t been boring, dreary, and dull. And Peter is the cause.” She is so pleased when she sees him and even the sun shines when she is with him. I think love is wonderful, especially the love at war, since that is not only a love for an opposite sex, but also the pursuit of a harbor of the heart. It is tough for Anne, who is such a sensitive girl, to exist in a sunless attic if she can’t find a spiritual home. And Peter, wh o is closer to her age, is exactly her spiritual sustenance. So in my view, Anne’s love is pure and pitiful.
