B There are quite a few advantages of wearing school uniforms. The idea may seem disagreeable at first, but considering all the positive effects coming from wearing uniforms you would be more likely to enjoy them. Teachers love school uniforms because it helps provide an orderly learning environment. Having students dressed in uniforms may teach them how to present themselves in a neat and professional manner. It gives students the opportunity to learn how to dress like young ladies and gentlemen. And they can focus their attention on academics rather than style. Purchasing school uniforms is easy and needs less hesitation and consideration. No matter what the school?s policy is, there are only specific essential pieces to the wardrobe(服装)that are necessary, so it won?t break the bank. A few wardrobe items can last a long time. Parents could also enjoy an easy morning, as it will take less time to choose a set of clothes for the school day. Students wearing uniforms will feel less pressure about what to wear or not to wear when their classmates are dressed similarly. Getting dressed before school becomes less of a chore(琐事)when students are limited in their choices, so there shouldn?t be any trouble about choosing an outfit the day and getting ready quickly. Some students may not like the lack of individuality with a uniform, but some school dress code policies may offer them the opportunities to show their unique styles. Uniforms today are also becoming trendier and can be seen in many areas of pop culture. Celebrities(名 人)and fashion designers are using uniforms as inspiration for new looks which also appeal to students. 55. What would be the best title for the text? A. How to dress properly. B. The advantages of school uniforms. C. The history of school uniforms. D. How to deal with pressure in school. 56. Teachers think that wearing school uniforms _____. A. is just a tradition that students should follow. B. makes students feel less pressure in study. C. helps students put more effort into their studies. D. makes students lose their independence and identity. 57. The underlined part “it won?t break the bank” in Paragraph 3 probably means “_____”. A. parents who work in a bank can afford the uniform. B. a school uniform should be worn every day. C. parents will have to go to the bank many times. D. a school uniform doesn?t cost a lot of money. 58. We can infer from the text that school uniforms _____. A. are not popular with fashion designers. B. will be more fashionable in the future. C. will be designed by students themselves. D. were not accepted by parents in the past.

C Picture a library without books? Well, I can't. Ever since I was little I would go to the library and take out numerous books. From picture books to beginning chapter books to YA books, books have always been a part of my life. Unlike many people today, I don't own a Kindle or a Nook or any type of e-reader. I prefer the old-fashioned book. There is something about holding a book and being able to turn the pages that I find comforting. In today's 21st century, books may become obsolete. For me that's something I find scary. I am a fan of the old TV science-fiction series Twilight Zone. One episode (一段情节)is about a librarian who has become obsolete. Though this episode aired in 1961, the writer of the series, Rod Serling was exactly on point when it came to predicting the future. In fact, in San Antonio, Texas the first-ever bookless library in the country opened. The library is full of iMacs, tablets and iPads which cost a huge $2.3 million. The library offers around 10,000 e-books. So the question is, is this what the future will soon be? Mary Graham, vice president of South Carolina's Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce states, “This is the future... If you're going to be building new library facilities, this is what you need to be doing.” It is our generation that will be the guinea pigs (试验品)of increasing technology like this. Is this a good or bad thing? Well, digital libraries may help the environment by not using paper; however, I feel like something will always be lacking with a digital book. A digital library is just the beginning. With all of this new technology, people seem to be more absorbed in their own world. One of my biggest complaints is when I am with my friends and they can't seem to get off their smart phone and talk to me. To make plans with a friend and then have them stuck on their phone the whole time is extremely rude. Not only is it disrespectful, but it reflects the direction of where human interactions are heading. Though social media is great, it also is addicting and has negative effects. Often when I go on Facebook it just makes me feel worse about myself. I'll see many of my 800 Facebook friends showing off their newest accomplishment or acceptance to college. Additionally, our society is becoming increasingly lazy. For instance, instead of doing mental maths, people use their phone to solve 89 + 74. It is simple tasks like these that are allowing people to lack important educational and social skills. It is up to us to find a balance between technology and human values and interactions. With new technology being created every day, we need to learn how to use it alongside our great minds. After all, inventions are supposed to benefit society not harm it. In the day of technology, who knows what's next? 59. The underlined word “obsolete” (Paragraph 1) is closest in meaning to _____. A. expensive B. complex C. outdated D. meaningless 60. What can we infer from the underlined sentence in Paragraph 2? A. The episode still enjoys great popularity nowadays. B. The situation of books today is similar to what Rod Serling predicted in the episode. C. Rod Serling liked making predictions about the future. D. The episode airing in 1961 was the most entertaining of the TV science-fiction series. 61. Which of the following will the writer probably disagree with? A. Great as social media is, it does have some negative effects. B. With the increasing use of social media, something will actually be lost. C. Through social media, people can develop educational and social skills around. D. As a result of social media, people may communicate less with the people around. 62. The tone of the passage is best described as __ . A. Skeptical B. Optimistic C. Supportive D. Objective

D Pupils remember more and behave better when 3D images are used in lessons, research suggests. They are quicker to learn and absorb new concepts, and display higher levels of concentration. Professor Anne Bamford studied the effectiveness of 3D content in 15 schools across seven countries. In each school, one class studied science in 2D classes and another did the same lesson using 3D resources. Pupils in 3D classes could remember more than those in 2D classes after four weeks, improving test scores by an average of 17 percent compared with 8 percent for 2D lessons. The researchers commented that the pupils in the 3D groups had deeper understanding, increased attention span, more motivation and higher engrossment in the lessons. One teacher in the study said, “ In class with 3D you have the ?wow? effect. The pupils are too interested to be disruptive(制造混乱的). They get involved and forget to be naughty.” Another said, “The class certainly pay more attention to the learning in the 3D classes. They are more focused. That is important in this class --- eight out of the 26 pupils in this class have attention problems, so I am thrilled with the impact of 3D. They are really attentive.” The study also found that teachers could use the 3D animations without specific training. Schools would need 3D-enabled projectors(放映机),laptops with good graphic capabilities, 3D software and glasses for children to introduce animations into classrooms. But Danny Nicholson, from the Association of Science Education, said the technology would be impractical to use in schools and could be too expensive. He said, “While I think the idea of 3D technology is very interesting --- and I'm speaking as a fan of interactive whiteboards and projectors as a technology in the classroom --- I worry that 3D is a bit of an expensive gimmick (小玩意儿). There are a few cases where a true 3D image might help, but a lot of the time, good 2D models that can be moved, would be just as effective.” In Colorado, the US, one school district is already in the process of having 1,000 3D projectors installed in classrooms. And the University of California, which carries out scientific research into the Lake Tahoe Basin, has used 3D presentations with Grade Six pupils. Those who watched the 3D presentations were more engaged and reported a general increase in their interest in science compared with students who watched the 2D version. 63. What method did Professor Bamford use to prove the advantages of 3D lessons? A. Comparison. B. Description. C. Argument. D. Narration. 64. Teachers think pupils in 3D classes _____. A. find it hard to concentrate on the lesson. B. are too naughty to get involved in 2D classes. C. have less motivation and lower engagement in the lesson. D. have deeper understanding and increased attention span. 65. Which of the following statement is TRUE? A. 3D presentations have been used with Grade Six pupils throughout the US. B. Many pupils are now more interested in science than before. C. Teachers would use the 3D technology by training. D. 3D technology would replace 2D models in the future. 66. What is the article mainly about? A. How schools can make full use of 3D technology. B. 2D models are always more effective than 3D images. C. Pupils behave better when 3D images are used in classes. D. The differences between 3D and 2D images.

E There are many great movie directors of all time and the following are five of those who have largely impressed audience with their body of works. As a member of the New Hollywood gang, Francis Coppola is best remembered for The Godfather series. His decision to cast Marlon Brando in the lead also met with fierce opposition from the studio bosses. Good sense became popular, and The Godfather went on to become one of the most memorable movies ever. Critics may point out that he has become less creative after his seventies, but try as one might, no one can possibly take the place of this great director's work. Stanley Kubrick's movies focus on the themes like sci-fi, horror, dark humor and war. He used symbolism in most of his movies, giving us some wonderful screen visuals, as shown in 2001: A Space Odyssey. His actors in Hollywood complained about the endless number of retakes, but they appreciated the performance he milked out of them. People argue about films like Lolita, A Clockwork Orange and Paths of Glory, but these are now seen as classics. Steven Spielberg is a great success at the box office, and he is one of the world's most popular filmmakers today. As the creator of classics like Schindler's List, Jurassic Park, ET, Indiana Jones series, Jaws, Saving Private Ryan, no one can win his hold over the audience. His critics accuse him of being emotional and over the top, but the fact remains that his movies attract the audience and set the cash registers ringing. Woody Allen is a director who directs movies full of crime and hate. This comic genius has given us Annie Hall, Hannah and Her Sisters and Midnight in Paris, which have also become classical. His movies constantly include characters who arouse the audience's sympathy and laughter at the same time, as they set out on a journey of self-discovery. Hollywood star power has never fazed Allen. Thankfully, awards and honors do not interest him, which results in creativity that is original. 67. What do the directors mentioned in the passage have in common? A. They are interested in awards for their works. B. They have created a lot of movies taken as classics. C. They are members of the New Hollywood gang. D. They focus their themes on the negative side of society. 68. Stanley Kubrick's works include the following except _____. A. Midnight in Paris B. 2001: A Space Odyssey C. A Clockwork Orange D. Paths of Glory 69. It is implied in the underlined sentence that Steven Spielberg _____. A. was successful in amusing the audience B. had set a cash register working for himself C. became much better at creating classics D. succeeded in making a great box office 70. What will be discussed in the paragraph that follows this passage? A. Their contribution to society. B. Another famous movie director. C. The difference between the directors. D. More great movies of the directors.

Having adjusted to 80. has applied for 或者 has been applying for 参考作文： It is needless to say that our greatest weakness lies in giving up. On the contrary, the most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time. There is a vivid example on me. Never will I forget the great difficulty that I had in learning maths. There was a time when I found it really hard to be skilled in maths. Having failed in maths tests many times, I was on the edge of giving up. Hardly could I stand the bad mood which maths brought to me. Only after I realized that I hadn?t tried hard enough did I attach significance to perseverance. Everyone has the experience of failure, the bitterness of which is simply beyond expression. But the general awareness of the importance of rising every time we fall might be the first step on the way to success. I knew I was on the point of starting over and taking some measures to improve my maths. The fact that I did make progress brought to me the value of insisting on. There is no denying that it was rising when I fell that made a difference. Taking what has been mentioned above into account, we may arrive at the conclusion that the greatest glory in living is not in never falling ,but in rising every time we fall.

M: No, I assigned it to Mary. Why don?t you type these documents for the meeting next week? (Text 4) W: Pass me the flour, please. M: Which tin is it in? W: The one at the end of the shelf. It?s slightly smaller than the others. M: Oh, right. (Text 5) M: Are you buying that book on ships? I didn?t know you were interested in ships. W: I?m not. I?ve just been looking at the pictures. No, this is the one I?m buying —— on modern aircraft. M: I thought you hated flying. W: I do, but I love watching planes. (Text 6) W: We?re having a lovely time, Dad. M: I?m sure there?s a lot to do! W: There is! We?ve been for a walk in Central Park. It?s so big! Everything here is big. And we?ve climbed the Empire State Building. The view was fantastic. We haven?t been to Greenwich Village yet, and we haven?t been to Chinatown, either. We?re going to do that tomorrow. M: Have you seen the Statue of Liberty yet? W: Oh, yes, we have. We?ve just had a helicopter ride out of the city, and we flew really close to it. M: What about a show? Have you seen a show on Broadway yet? W: No, we haven?t. We?re going to see one on our last night here, but we haven?t decided what to see yet. (Text 7) W: Karl, have you got the list of people we?re inviting to the party? M: Well, it?s the usual crowd plus the couple next door. W: Oh no, not them, they are so dull. M: Look, Sally, I know. But they?ll guess we?re having a party because of the noise and in any case we asked them last time. W: Oh, all right. What about food and drink then? M: Well, it?s the usual arrangement. We?ll provide the food and everyone will bring along something to drink. W: Sounds good to me. What?re we eating? M: I don?t know. I?ve been so busy. I haven?t done anything about it yet. W: How about salads —— you know different sorts of salads? M: We did that last time, I think we should do something different this time. W: What about the chicken thing we had when we were on holiday? M: You mean that chicken and rice with fruit and vegetables? W: Yeah, I can?t remember what it was called. It was really nice! (Text 8) W: Adam, this is it. This is your room. You?ve got a desk, a bed, and a TV. If you need anything else, please let me know. M: Thank you. This is really very good. W: Come here. I?ll show you around the house. The study is downstairs. You can use the computer there. M: Oh, I?ve got my laptop. I just need to get it connected. W: I?ll ask my husband to help you. He and Mary, my daughter, are coming home after six. Grandpa and grandma went out for a walk. They will be back at four o?clock. M: Oh, I?m really looking forward to seeing them.

W: They will be very happy to see you too. Now let?s talk about the meal. We will have dinner at 6:30. Breakfast starts at 7:30. Do you want me to prepare a lunch pack for you or do you prefer to eat at school? M: I?ll eat at school. (Text 9) W: How do you usually get to work? M: I usually ride my bike. How about you? W: I feel that I can see more when I ride a bike, but I often drive a car. Do you have a car? M: No. I used to have one. Once I read an article about car and air pollution, so I decided to sell it. Now I?m using my bicycle to get around and I find that I don?t really need a car. W: Maybe I should sell my car too. M: You could try. It would save you a lot of money on gas, insurance and repairs. And you would get lots of exercise, too! W: You?re right. I really need to lose a few pounds. Having a car has made me lazy. I never end up walking anywhere! M: Let?s go to a car dealership. I?ll help you try to sell your car for a good price. W: Let?s go! (Text 10) W: Well done! I enjoyed your story. Now I?d like to share with you a strange experience I had a month ago. It might sound funny, but it is true. After a day?s hard work I went to bed earlier than usual. It was about two o?clock in the morning, and …and suddenly I woke up. I heard a noise. I got out of bed and went slowly downstairs. There was a light in the living room. I listened very carefully. I could hear two men speaking quietly. I believe two burglars had broken into my house and I was really frightened, so I went back upstairs, and immediately phoned the police from my bedroom. The police arrived quickly. They opened the front door with a special key and went into the living room. You can imagine how embarrassed I was when they came upstairs and told me they had turned the television off for me and everything was all right.
